Australia Calls on Nationals to Evacuate Iran Immediately

(MENAFN) Australia has issued an urgent directive Wednesday for its nationals to evacuate Iran immediately as nationwide demonstrations intensify across the country.

Canberra escalated its travel advisory to the highest level, instructing citizens to depart Iranian territory without delay amid worsening civil unrest.

"Do not travel to Iran. If you're in Iran, you should leave as soon as possible," authorities stated, pointing to "ongoing violent nationwide protests that may further escalate without notice."

The government warned Australians to steer clear of mass gatherings, street demonstrations, and any form of public assembly while heeding directives from Iranian officials.

Detention risks have surged dramatically for foreign visitors, officials cautioned.

"Australians, including dual nationals, are at a high risk of being detained," the advisory emphasized.

"The security situation is volatile. If you remain in Iran despite our advice, you're responsible for your own safety," the warning continued, noting that Australian Embassy services have been halted.

India's foreign ministry echoed similar concerns, issuing its own travel restrictions for Indian passport holders.

"In view of recent developments," Indian citizens should postpone all unnecessary trips to Iran indefinitely, the External Affairs Ministry announced, advising those already in-country to "exercise due caution, avoid areas of protests or demonstrations, and closely monitor news."

Turmoil has engulfed Iran in recent weeks as economic collapse deepens and the nation's currency plummets in value. The Iranian rial has experienced catastrophic devaluation, fueling public anger.

Fatal clashes have erupted nationwide, with multiple casualties confirmed among both demonstrators and security personnel in various urban centers.
